Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 in October 2025, which means those computers no longer receive Microsoft’s standard security updates. As a result, Xobee is updating how we support Windows 10 systems effective October 1, 2026.
This change won’t affect most Xobee clients, but we’d rather you hear it from us with time to plan.
What’s changing:
Effective October 1, Windows 10 workstations that are no longer covered by Microsoft security updates will fall outside Xobee’s standard security support commitments.
We will continue to provide normal day-to-day IT support for these computers. However, security remediation, operating system recovery, or other work resulting from vulnerabilities associated with an unsupported Windows 10 system may be billed separately.
The reason is straightforward: no security tool we use can patch a flaw in the operating system itself. That’s true for every IT provider, not just Xobee.
Not sure whether this affects you?
Just ask your Xobee contact. We can tell you exactly which computers, if any, are still running Windows 10 and whether action is needed.
If you do not have any affected Windows 10 workstations, nothing changes.
You can also review our Windows 10 FAQs for additional information.
If you do have computers running Windows 10, you have three options, and all three are fine with us:
- Upgrade or replace them. We can identify which systems can be upgraded or need to be replaced, and help you plan the work.
- Do it in phases. Start with your highest risk machines and spread the rest over the next few months.
- Keep them as they are. We’ll ask you to sign a short acknowledgment that you’ve been advised and chosen to continue, then we’ll keep supporting you within those limits.
Worth checking either way: most cyber liability policies now ask whether your systems run vendor-supported software. A five-minute call to your broker will tell you how yours treats this. Whatever the answer, you should be the one who knows it.
