A 2025 survey by Mastercard of more than 5,000 small and medium-sized businesses revealed that 46% have experienced a cyber-attack. Even more shocking, nearly 20% experience an attack that led to bankruptcy or closing permanently.

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) face the same threats as the world’s largest companies, but without the budgets, resources, or dedicated teams. In fact, more than half of SMBs surveyed said a financial loss from a cyber-attack costing $50,000 in damage would force them to shut down.
